MFJ-2013 60/30/15M OCFD
Good antenna, but somewhat noisy in urban areas.
YAESU C4FM UHF 3207
Nice radio! 55W peak output. C4FM mode xtal clear.
B-SQUARED ENGINEERING 122’ T2FD
1.6 - 30 MHz. No termination loss on 80/40/20/15/10m
GAP CHALLENGER 80-2M VERT HALF-WAVE
Great antenna and very durable - has survived 16 severe storms (65-85 mph winds). Will tune 60m and 17m, even though NOT designed for those bands. Great on 40m & 15m! Periodically outperforms OCFD on 20m and 17m. Usually about 1 s-unit down from OCFD on Rx.
YAESU FT-2980
Use as base unit on 2m FM. Simple easy to use radio. The 80W output works well with the base antenna for an average 75mi range into repeaters with full quieting.
YAESU VX-7R
Awesome handheld for 6m, 2m, 1.25m, and 70cm. Love that it will do AM, as well as FM. Rugged and waterproof (tested several times on treks). My go-to hiking, backpacking trek, and canoeing trek radio.
YAESU FT-DX1200
Added FFT-1 to radio. Quantum improvement from FT-920, which is impressive! Very happy with this radio. Always receive great audio reports. Use with Yaesu MD-100 mic and SP-8 speaker.
TRAM 1481
27’ VHF/UHF collinear antenna. 8.7dBi/11dBi gain. Able to hit repeaters in Stillwater, Lawton, Arbuckles, Mounds, Elk City, Enid, and Anadarko on 20W.
YAESU FT-920
Fantastic radio...my first modern rig. Use with Yaesu MD-100 mic and SP-8 speaker.
YAESU FT-817
Primarily use on backpacking treks and campouts. I absolutely love this radio! Have worked multiple DX entities with this QRP rig and a wire dipole antenna in trees. Also use for 2m SSB at home with Mirage B34G amp and Yagi antenna. Have W4RT OBP mic mod installed, which really boosts the signal punch. Lasts about 20 hrs on a 11Ah LiPO battery pack that will recharge from my Goal Zero Nomad-7 solar panel.
MFJ 40-6M OCFD @ 34'
Set at 1/2 wave AGL. Set up 14 deg off-axis at guanella to focus high gain lobes into Europe, South America, Japan/Korea, and South Pacific. Works very well on 20m and wel on 40, 17, 15, 12, 10, and 6
HEATHKIT HW-16 & HG-10 VFO
My first rig...built when I was 13 y/o. Spent a lot of time tapping out code and listening to AM ham stations, which probably kept me out of a lot of teenage trouble;) The skills I developed with this rig served me time and again during my career in the Army. Rig is currently off-line and needs a new electrolytic.
