About me

I was licensed 1994 and had the call ZR5FA. At the time I was very active on 2m and 6m SSB, focussing on DX as well as a number of digital modes including WSJT meteor scatter. Was also active on a number of satellites includung MIR.

In 2002 I did my 12 w.p.m. CW exam and my call changed to ZS5SAM.
Lately I am active on 6m, 10m, 15m and 20m DX. I enjoy DX in all it's forms but especially enjoy the longer QSO's more than the quick exchange off calls and RST. There are so many interesting people out there and getting to know them is a big part of the hobby for me.

My HF station consists of a Kenwood TS2000 and Icom IC7300 running 100W into a TH3 3 element tri-bander for 20/15/10m and EFHW for 80-10m
I also have an Icom IC-751A which I use for 40m and as a backup. The IC-751A is a fantastic tranceiver.
