User info
I am retired and am ejoying my new freedom from being on-call for my working career in broadcast engineering and technical education. It is great to be able to relax through nights, weekends, and holidays knowing I won't be driving somewhere in the middle-of-the-night through rain, snow, thunderstorms, and everything else.
I work a lot of PSK31 and other digital modes, and recently passed 2,140 PSK QSOs. I also enjoy CW and am continually working to improve my skills both with hand keys and paddles. This Christmas found a Begali paddle appearing on my desk! Now I know why they are so popular.
My antennas for the HF bands consist of two: An OCF dipole mnufactured by My Antennas and a Comtek 40m vertical with radials manufactured by DX Engineering. The OCF dipole is supported by the same mast that holds my Diamond 2m/70cm vertical. The center of the OCF is at 21-feet above ground level. The ends are tied off to trees and are about 10-feet above ground level. I had to wrap about 30-feet of antenna wire on a PVC tube because of the short length to our silver maple tree. Still tunes all bands and seems to work fine.
