Look me up on QRZ.com Call Sign - W8ACL My Biography: I became interested in electronics & HAM Radio as a Short Wave Listener (SWL) around 1968 during my junior year in high school. This was during NASA's Apollo space program and about a year before the Apollo 11 moon launch. Inspired by NASA & the Apollo moon landings, I went on to college to study electronics. After college I took an electronics position with Honeywell Aerospace Electronics in St Petersburg Florida. I have a degree in Electronics Engineering Technology and have worked in the military/aerospace electronics field since 1974. My primary work has been military and aerospace control electronics. I have worked on many noteable programs such as the Polaris & Trident Nuclear Submarine navigation systems, Minute Man III ICBM, F15 aviation radar system, F16 Missile launch system, Sparrow & Harpoon missile systems, Bell Helicopter UH-1 (Huey), and the V-22 Osprey as well as numerous other military aerospace programs. My Biography (cont'd): During this time, I was married, built a home and raised two beautiful daughters, who both achieved a bachelor of science in nursing (BSN) degree. Even though I loved Short Wave Listening (SWL) during those early years, I never seemed to find time for HAM Radio. My job kept me busy traveling and working on many military aerospace programs. So, after recently retiring, I decided to get my Amateur Radio license and have some fun. I received my Tech & General ticket in 2014 and became(KE8ACL). I completed my Extra exam in January 2015. smiley My Amateur Extra FCC license exam was administered in January 2015, by the Certified Volunteer Examiners at (DARA) the Dayton Amateur Radio Association. Many thanks go out to these gentlemen. They were very kind and made me feel welcome to the hobby. I received my current Extra Class vanity call sign W8ACL in February 2015.View on Map (EM79XT)
