Hi, My name is Brian, also known as "The Pirate."  Thanks for stopping by to read my profile and bio.  I just got into amature radio November 2017 and I am enjoying the challenge of learning new things.  I received my Technician license in November 2017, my General in March  and my Extra in April 2018.

I retired from the army in 1992 and enjoyed serving in Europe, Asia and all across America.  I hold an Associate of Arts degree, a Bachelors degree in Law & Justice and a Masters degree in Organization Development from Central Washington University.  I am also the former owner of Puget Sound Pirates, a pirate reenacting company that performed at renaissance faires, pirate festivals, tall ship festivals, county fairs, parades, business gatherings and brithday parties.

I'm a former adrenaline junkie and loved skydiving, scuba diving, technical rock climbing, glacier climbing, rapelling, hang gliding, flying (I have my pilots license), riding motorcycles (I'm a former Motorcycle Safety Foundation Motorcycle Safety Instructor, and HOG Road Captain), sword fighting, archery, rifle and pistol marksman, and performing whip shows.

I'm blessed to be married to my best friend Anna Marie, who suffered a massive stroke in March 2011.  That is when I sold my pirate company and became her full time care giver.  Mentally she has recovered 100%, but still requires full time care as she is now wheel chair bound.  The best part of her recovery is that I now get to spend almost every minute of every day with my wife!  It just doesn't get any better then that.

Together we enjoy movies, going to the symphony, ballet and plays, dinner out and sightseeing.  We both love to read, listen to music and so far she hasn't died from my cooking.  lol

My radio shack and rigs consist of an ICOM 7300 transceiver for HF work , MFJ 993B antenna tuner, CLRspkr by West Mountain Radio, a Yaesu FT-897D transciever with battery pack for VHF/UHF work, a Comet GP-9 Dual-Band VHF/UHF Antenna, an Alpha Delta DX-EE multi band dipole (40, 20, 15, 10m) and a 10-80m Freestanding Grounplane Vertical Antenna with UNUN by Zero Five Antenna.  I also carry a Yaesu VX-6R/E handheld for use in my truck or at various events.

If you are ever out near the Seattle / Tacoma area in Washington, give me a shout on the Federal Way Amateur Radio Club repeater at 147.040.
