I enjoy didigtal communications almost from the time I was licensed in 1957.  At first there was only RTTY and later with an ST-6 terminal unit. I remember the mechanical rhythm of typing on the Model 15 keyboard . . . .

My first rig was a World Radio Labs Globe Chief built using a pair of pliers, screw driver, pocket knife and wood burning iron. I was 14 at the time.  It was a good rig running a pair of very durable 807's. I operated only 40 meter CW.

I mostly run PSK31 but like Olivia and MFSK,  phase distortion immune modes.

I also operate wspr, the weak signal mode, on all HF bands.  It is amazing how distant it reaches running between 500mW to 5 watts.

I run Mint Linux and Puppy Linux.  Puppy is fast because everything runs in ram and the system is saved on a HD or the CD.

I use an 80-6 meter Carolina Windom antenna sloping from 50 feet on the east end to 12 feet on the west end.  It is the best antenna I have used since I was licensed in 1957.
