User info

Living in Olathe, Kansas since 2012. I have been involved in electronics since I was 9 years old. I met my Mentor, Don Raduziner, in Simi near my home. Great guy and great Ham. He was in the Air Force working for AFRS (Armed Forces Radio Service). He had a pictuire with Vice-Presidient Ricahrd Nixon on his wall. He taught me electronics, repair and Ham Radio. I did not receive my Ham license until 2021. I could never get the Morse Code down. I settled on CB radio. Since the '80's when the FCC quit issuing CB licenses I quit CB because of the trash on the radio.

I decided to get my Ham license in 2020. I took Zoom classes with my local Ham club, Santa Fe Trail ARC. I took my license in February. I got my Technician and then said I should try for the General. I had not practiced, but what the heck. I took it and passed.

I decided I wanted to honor Don, so I applied and received his old call sign: W6BDD. As Don would call it out: "W-6-Bo-Diddle-Diddle".

I have been an Electronics Technician, Engineer, Senior Engineer, Manager, Draftsman, PC Board Designer, Inspector.

I am currently working on a Satellite Tracker for ISS and OSCAR. I plan to have it up and running late 2021. I also have a Comet GP-9 dual-band, Windom 40 Meter and hopefully a 80 Meter loop to put up soon.

My radios are: Yaesu FT-301D, (2) FT-726R, and FT2DR HT.

I recently completed a rebuild of a GONSET 101 Linear amplifier. It was at auction and it was missing the high voltage section. Someone apparently had removed it, maybe because of the weight. I built a new power supply assembly, modified the Grid supply, replaced a few capacitors. The result is a beefier Linear that is cleaner and more efficient.

I like to dabble in electronics and electro-mechanical stuff. I worked in the Satellite and Telemetry Tracking industries for 40 years.
