User info

I was first licensed in 1970 as WN4PJW and for many years I worked primarily 75 meter phone.  I started actively chasing DX in the 80's and am now quite an avid contester - CW and RTTY only as SSB is too much like "work" for me - I like pushing buttons and flashing lights.  :)   I run 100 watts when contesting and am a member of the local Shenandoah Valley Wireless contest group.

Certificates and memberships include:  DXCC, WAC, WAS, RCC, Rooster Net, Breakfast Club and ECARS.  I lack a few confirmed qsl's on 80M to get 5BDXCC.

My local club is the Valley Amateur Radio Association (see w4xd.com).  I am very active in our local Field Day event and organize/participate in most of the public service activities which the club supports.

If you zoom on the Google Maps satellite view of our home, you can see the old Telrex 6 element tribander on the 100 foot tower.  The small beam on the end of the house at 50' is a 3 element for 12 and 17 meters.  For 40 thru 160 I use an extended zepp and a K9AY receive antenna.

My XYL is K4PJJ but she is no longer active on HF and seldom gets on VHF due primarily to her nice cell phone.
