Radio and shortwave listening have been strong interests of mine since early childhood and I was finally licensed as a late bloomer back in 1979. I'm an ARRL VE, belong to QCWA and FISTS and hold mixed mode DXCC. My modest station includes an Icom 746 Pro running into a Cobra Senior dipole, an old Atlas 210X and a handful of VHF and UHF radios. I work all bands from 160 meters to 70 cm.
In addition to amateur radio, I'm a private pilot (ASEL). About my QSL card: no, I don't fly an Airbus for Frontier Airlines - but my son does, and I'm pretty proud of him! I'm a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus (and founder of the KofC Net which meets on 14.243 MHz on Saturday afternoons at 3pm ET). I also enjoy tooling around in my Jeep Wrangler with my XYL Jane, KA1YAO who shares mymission in life in spoiling our six grandkids (thereby sparing them from the deprived lifestyle their parents believe they experienced while growing up).
Professionally, I've developed hundreds of wireless and fiber optic amplification facilities throughout the USA. Since 2008 I've been working on upgrading AT&T's wireless network throughout New England with 3G UMTS and 4G LTE implementation.
