User info

Hi, welcome to my HRDLog page.

My name is Alexi Ginis, and if you're looking me up after a recent QSO - thanks for the contact!

I've had my Foundation license since June 2018 and have enjoyed using UHF/VHF FM modes for about a year until recently when I was able to borrow a Yaesu FT-7 and an MFJ tuner to create a very DIY centre-fed dipole from speaker wire across the back of the house.

Since then I've been enjoying all that HF has to offer, particularly on 40m and 80m. I have plans to upgrade towards the end of the year and move on from 10w to 100w, hopefully for some CQ DX action!

My current setup also includes an Alinco DR-635 on loan until I choose a UHF/VHF dual bander for local operation, as well as a Yaesu FT-70DR for mobile or portable operations. I am also in the process of setting up a Yaesu C4FM WiRES-X/System Fusion Node at my QTH.

I enjoy SOTA as well as hiking combined with Amateur Radio. I also recently competed in the 2019 Trans-Tasman HF Contest and made around 10 contacts on behalf of VK3CMZ, including DX to VI1, all of which I really enjoyed and learnt a lot from. I have also competed in the Remebrance Day Contest, Oceania DX Contest and CQ DX contests in 2019.

My QTH is approximately 120km north of Melbourne, you can usually find me on the VK3RCV repeater if you're in the area. I am also a member of the Bendigo Amateur Radio and Electronics Club (BAREC).

Thanks for looking me up, I hope to catch you on the air soon!
