TA3MW – Ömer Tunç

Hello! I’m Ömer Tunç – TA3MW. For me, amateur radio is not just a means of communication; it’s a multifaceted passion where electronics, software, design, and exploration intersect. Since I started my amateur radio journey in 2018, I’ve become not only an operator but also a passionate radio enthusiast who enjoys researching, producing, testing, and sharing.

My Previous Callsign:

TA3OTU
Between 2018 and 2024, I actively participated in technical support, fieldwork, and community organization as a member of TRAC Izmir.

  • QRP-level FT8 and digital modes with Yaesu FT-891
  • 10m End-Fed antenna (homemade – 49:1 balun)
  • 7m loaded coil antenna (homemade – optimized for portable use)

VHF/UHF & APRS

  • Home station with Yaesu FTM-100DR and fixed APRS beacon
  • Mobile use with AnyTone UV-878 Plus and Quansheng K5 (ExzumER firmware)

  • Fixed LoRa APRS iGate: homemade 433 MHz Moxon antenna (3D printed)

DMR and Digital Systems

  • Raspberry Pi 2 + duplex hotspot (stationary use)
  • Portable hotspot based on Pi Zero 2
  • All systems are configured to be used independently and in mobile settings

LoRa APRS Projects

  • APRS trackers based on ESP32
  • LoRa iGate systems (for local coverage)
  • All systems use custom 3D-printed enclosures and mounting parts

My Technical Interests

  • QRP and digital modes (especially FT8)
  • Antenna design and field testing
  • Microcontroller-based RF projects
  • Spectrum analysis with SDR
  • Software & RF system integration
  • Minimal and efficient mobile station setups

My Logs and Reports

I regularly log my amateur radio activities and upload them to various platforms. You can find my current logs and more information on the following platforms:

“Since the first day I soldered a cable, many things have changed… but the excitement of receiving a signal has always remained the same. For me, this journey started with curiosity, not just a signal — and I still learn something new with every signal.”
