I'm licensed since 1980. After a few years being active on 2m, my work and other hobbies (e.g. my wife) consumed a lot of time.
Since january 2014 I'm the proud owner of a Kenwood TS-530SP and an Icom 706 so now I'm able to work HF :-)
I have tested different antennas usable in a limited space. For 20m I used a sloping End Fed and for 10m I used a sloping dipole and current balun (8 windings of RG58 on a FT240-43 toroid).
Since februari 16th, 2015 I'm using a sloping dipole (height 8 - 3 m above ground level, total width 11m with drooping 0.5 m at each end). The antenna is connected using 300 ohm ladder line. My ATU is a home made s-match antenna tuner.
Next project is to build a variable capacitor for my s-match that can handle higher voltages. Now I am using a capacitor from an old radio, so my transmitter output is limited to approximately 40W.
For 2m and 70cm I use a Yaesu FT-7800 and an X50 antenna 7m above ground leve
