HAM Radio Bio-
Hello, my name is Christopher (Chris for short). I live in Hope Mills, North Carolina USA. I have lived in North Carolina all my life but have traveled to a few other stares over the years.
I am married and have a son, Other than God, they are my driving force in life.
I am employed as a Security Analyst for a division of state education. I have been in IT since the late 1990’s. I originally had a career path set for Pharmaceuticals and Bio-chemistry. Somehow the IT profession chose me, and I followed it. So far, I am glad that I have, since it has led me to many paths including HAM Radio.
I originally got my interest to get my HAM radio license due to my interest in learning how to fly drones. The wireless video modules I wanted to use are in the HAM bands and obviously, it requires a technician license to operate. I took my technician exam, got my license and decided to get a HT. Then the bug had bit me and set in. A few months later I got my General license, and now I have my Extra as ofJune 08, 2019.
I am on 2 meter every day and finally got me a HF rig in January 2019. I really enjoy HF and like meeting new people. Even though I am in IT, I prefer to exchange QSO cards directly over the electronic methods. Its something about getting a QSO card in the mail and having a tangible representation of the contact that make it more meaningful to me.
Maybe one day we will make a QSO on HF, until the -73 for now.
