User info

My name is Trent Davis and I am a Retired Police Sergeant from New Jersey. I now live in Port Saint Lucie, Florida. I was first licensed as a Novice Class in 1990 as KB2KGW. At that time I was introduced to the Amateur Radio Service by my next door neighbor and good friend N2HWL - Gerard P Draper who is now a Silent Key.

In 1993 the Novice Class gave way to the Technician-Plus Class. This was a written test with 5 word code so I went to the Manahawkin Amateur Radio Club in Manahawkin, NJ on a Sunday afternoon and took the appropriate element and passed.

On August 13, 2011 I took the General Class test at the Saint Lucie County Emergency Communication Center located in Fort Pierce, FL and passed it. Another step up.

On September 28, 2011 I took the Amateur Extra Class test at the WQCS studios located on the grounds of the Indian River State College in Fort Pierce, FL and passed it. The final step up. So, today I enjoy amateur radio and all it has to offer at the Amateur Extra Class level.

I am active in the OMIK Radio Association Inc. (OMIK #1627), Martin County Amateur Radio Association (MCARA), Fort Pierce Amateur Radio Club (FPARC) the "Old Man International Sideband Society" (OMISS #7820), Martin County ARES, Saint Lucie County ARES, and a member of SKYWARN.

I am also very much active with the ARRL Field Organization program within the South Florida Section. I am presently serving in the following ARRL station appointed positions: Local Government Liaison (LGL), Official Observer (OO), Public Information Officer (PIO), and Technical Specialist (TS). I am also ARRL certified as a Field Examiner (FE), Instructor (I), and Volunteer Examiner (VE).

I have earned 3 college degrees: Bachelors of Science - Public Agency Service (Northern Arizona University), Associates Degree - Liberal Arts (Pima Community College - Tucson, AZ), and an Associates Degree in Para-Legal Studies (Ocean County College, NJ).

I got started in amateur radio on 10M as a novice using the Antron 99. Today's antenna farm is just as meek. There is a CUSHCRAFT R6000 vertical and a DIAMOND X510HDM 2M/440 8.3/11.7DB BASE STATION VERTICAL using the DIAMOND MX-72N DUPLEXER 2M/440 with N connectors.

My favorite bands are in order 20m,15m, 17m, 12m, 10m, 80m, 40m, 6m, 2m, and 70cm. As the atmosphere improves I will keep looking for openings on all the bands.

73, Trent N2WKL
