User info
Hi folks,
I live in the town of Paisley, just West of Glasgow, Central Scotland. At one time the town had a thriving textile industry and produced the world famous Paisley Pattern.
The Paisley Pattern

At the moment my station consists of a Kenwood TS 850-S and a home brew linked dipole for 10/12/15/17/20m in an inverted V setup.
The dipole is a half wavelength on 20m, but has insulators and jumper links at the physical lengths for 10/12/15/17m along each leg. The diagram shows a 3 band example.

With all the links closed it is for 20m, when I break the pair of jumpers closest to the feed point it becomes a 10m dipole. When I reconnect them and break the next pair it becomes a 12m dipole, and so on...
A bit like Russian Dolls.
The wire is D10 NATO field telephone wire.
1:1 across most of the bands, beter than 1.3:1 on the rest.
NO TUNER REQUIRED, although I need to go out and drop the fishing pole that holds the centre by a couple of metres, connect/disconnect links and put the pole back up to its full hight. Takes about one minute.
Sommerkamp FT-480R 2m multi mode and a Simoco PRM8030 on 70 cm with a Watson 300 on the roof.
I also have a Wouxun KG - UVD1P handie that I use both portable and mobile.
I share my radio shack with my 8 ferrets.
Active on 70cm FM, 2m FM/ssb, 10,12,15,17 and 20m ssb.
Hoping to do some psk31 in the near future.
73, de James.
