I obtained my foundation licence in May 2021, and throughout 2021 into 2022 I've been trying to build my understanding of operating modes, bands, propogation, antenna set up and 'on the air' protocol - which has led me to almost exclusively operate as a 2m FM SOTA chaser - I seem to get good reception to Snowdon (GW/NW-001) from the west, and over to Kinder Scout (G/SP-001) from the east, south as far as Stiperstones (G/WB-003) and Pegwn Mawr (GW/MW-006) - currently north remains a bit of a mystery, managing only single chases up to Freeholds Top (G/SP-011), Billinge Hill (G/SP-017) and a very lucky chase up to Ingleborough (G/NP-005).

I'm hoping to soon try my hand at a SOTA activation, being well positioned in mid-Cheshire for trips out to both the Southern Pennines and North Wales.

I'm currently only really operating on 20m FT8/FT4 using <5W whilst on paternity leave.  I expect to be back picking up the SOTA side of the hobby in the autumn.
