 I was raised in a family of Amateur Radio operators and received a novice license in 1981 with the callsign of KA5KKO. At that time I enjoyed working CW DX and receiving QSL cards and stamps from foreign countries. Enjoying challenges I worked hard to raise Morse Code speed to 25 WPM and studied theory to pass the Technician, General and Advanced exams.  (To be honest, the Advanced exam was the hardest.)  Upon passing the Extra class exam I opted to receive a shortened callsign - KY5K.  This hobby eventually led to a degree in Electrical Engineering and employment at West Texas Utilities and Owens Corning Fiberglas, among other companies.  Marriage and family kind of put a hold on the hobby.  But, after decades away finally I have returned.  For purposes of "going mobile" I purchased a Yaesu FT-891 with a tuner and a MFJ mobile multi-band antenna.  Since I have been away for decades I am learning to use the computer and internet integrations.  I have updated the QRZ, QRZCQ, eQSL and am in process of getting into Logbook of the World.  Anyway, I hope to hear you on air soon!  73's David
