User info
I am a retired Law Enforcement Officer with 23 years of service. I also have experience in electronics, computer service, security and surveillance systems installation and service, and two-way radio and paging systems installation and service. I am currently a Private Process Server and do some HVAC work on the side. I am an avid Biker and Storm Chaser.
I have maintained an interest in radio technology for many years and finally entered amateur radio obtaining Technician and General Class the same day on March 11, 2019. Due to very limited funds at that time my first purchase was the Anytone AT-878UV portable along with a JumboSpot because there were, and still are, no repeaters close enough to access. A few months later I purchased the OpenSpot2 due to the more detailed and more user-friendly web interface. September 2019 I purchased the DVMEGA Cast in order to learn and use D-STAR and Fusion modes as well.
I currently monitor:
DMR Brandmeister TG 310543 / TG 91
D-Star REF030 C / NT4MC C
Fusion YSF64230
Mid November 2019 I purchased the Yaesu FT-991A along with the Maldol HVU-8 Multiband Vertical and entered the world of HF. I also gained access to repeaters in surrounding counties. November 22, 2019 at 0640Z I made my first HF contact with Tom K4JFI in Coats, NC, 581 miles from my home QTH.
I WAS OFFICIALLY HOOKED!!!
First week of September 2020 I added a RadioWavz DX160 OCF Dipole giving me access to all amateur bands.
I am currently active on all bands with favorites being 20M, 40M, and 80M.
