A bit about me. Born in 1971, father (N5EQY also aka WB4WHU, WA7ZYW, DA2QI, DA1WB), put me in front of a radio that he rigged with lights and sound when I was 2. I was hooked!

He bought a TRS-80 Model 1 with the tape drive back in 78 and I learned basic. We spent a lot of time putting together radios and listening and DXing around the world.

We had projects like SSTV, Packet Radio, DL’ing WX fax, ect that I would do with him. Great times. I was always fascinated with that technology. But I latched onto the computer world more than the HAM world

Fast forward 40 years later, I finally decided to get my technician license due to a resurging interest for independent comms. “If you don’t have comms, you don’t have jack!” stated someone close to me.

It was a very proud day in my dad’s life when I called him up on Father’s day and told him I just passed my technician license exam. I was figuring that I would be using 2m more but Dad gave me his old Kenwood TS-140S and I’ve been PSKing away on 10m. It came with a PLL Unlock but Bruce - W7BCW from SultanTronics was able to run a re-alignment on it and get it back up to operating speed. I highly reccomend him for any radio work! Thanks Bruce! http://www.sultantronics.com
