 Got licensed to support my RC plane hobby so that I could mount a longer range video transmitter on my plane.  Picked up a Baofeng BF-F8HP since it was cheap and I had a license at that point.  Had fun talking on the air using the HT, so picked up a pair of cheap mobile radios (BTECH UV-2501+220 and QYT KT-8900R).  This lead to a preorder of an Icom IC-7300 as my first HF rig which I received on 3/31/2016 and had my first HF QSO on 80m with N2CPR who took me through the ropes of getting to know the rig.
