I got my Technician licence in September of 2017, so I could fly FPV quadcopters. It didn't take long to get hooked on HAM radio, and I upgraded to General a year later. I was into CB in the late 70s and early 80s, but got bored with it.
Currently for HF I am running a Yaesu FT-757 GX with a CAT cable and SignaLink USB sound card for FT-8. Still have the stock hand mic for voice. The antenna is an MFJ-1775, a small rotatable di-pole. I don't have a lot of room for antennas. I also have a Yaesu FT-2980 for 2 meter FM.
My other hobbies include candlepin and duckpin bowling and golf.
