User info
Hello, I am glad you took time to visit this page. I have been interested in ham radio most of my life, but did not get licensed till 2008. I enjoy collecting and operating military radios. The portability, ruggedness, and the challenge or operating QRP are the best part. There is nothing like the look you get when you go to setup in a local park and pull out 25 pounds of painted green aluminum and hang an antenna. Most people are curious the rest want to call 911. I have a collection of the Clansman family of PRC radios that were used by the British military from the 1970 thru1990. I also have several US issued gear and one eastern bloc Czechoslovakian RF-10. My primary commercial rig is the FT817 rig which was my first HF rig. My primary Military HF rig is the PRC-320, made by Plessey. I also enjoy D-Star and look forward to the growth of Amateur digital radio. Most recently I have been using my QRP rig to make PSK-31 contacts on 20 & 40 meters.
I am a Member of the Philadelphia Digital Radio Association, K3PDR. http://k3pdr.org/Home_Page.php , as well as Montgomery County ARES-RACES (MCAR) http://www.aa3e.org/. I operate an Echolink node in the Pennsburg, PA area KB3SBC-L , node #412705
