 Casual DXer:

I’m pretty much a "Casual SSB Contester" and my main focus is DX in general.

If there's some rare DX out there, I may chase it. Just enjoy making contacts as distant as my station can possibly reach and then confirming them via LoTW (only)!

Compromised Station:

Having an "Home Owners Association" (HOA) where I live, I am NOT permitted ANY oudoor antennas! Hence I have only two 'stealth' outdoor HF antennas - see below!!  A flagpole and multiband long wire!

The Station "Receiver - Antenna - Power" Triangle:

Power being one leg of the station 'triangle,' I've increased my emphasis on the receiver and power sides of the triangle!  I've have found that "power" can help, hence a nice top-of-the-line KPA1500!  

None-the-less, in the end it’s still all about your antennas!! I do suffer from "tower envy" when I visit some of my friends QTHs! Many in NEMARC have towers! 

As for an upgraded receiver, maybe someday a Yaesu FT-DX101D? I'm watching this transceiver as it begins to mature...

Not much sense purchasing one under the current band conditions in 2019, and in more time the price will drop andhopefully the transceiver will be upgraded via firmware, etc.

Due to band conditions in the current cycle, I’ve recently gotten back into FT8. I can still get my "HF fix" and make contacts until the SSB contest season rolls around in the fall!
