I was first licensed in 1980 while living in Delaware but after 2 different lightning strikes in 1988 I packed up all my equipment and got off the air for 25 years.

In the Spring of 2009 I moved from Delaware to a Golf Cart retirement community called The Villages located in central Florida approximately 50 miles north of Disney World.  Currently there are of over 100,000 residents (and still growing).  There are 41 Golf Courses in The Villages and they also are still growing. I worked from a home office for the first nine months then eventually went into full retirement.

In the Spring of 2013 I decided to get the radios out and become active again. The Villages has an antenna restriction policy resulting in the Hams utilizing numerous Stealth Antenna Designs. So for the HF bands, I currently have an 88 foot random wire tucked under the roof shingles fed by an SGC-237 Smartuner with an 8 foot ground rod and a 96 foot counterpoise. It will load-up on all HF bands from 160 to 10 meters. The HF rig is an Icom 745. Sometime in the future I plan to install a Flagpole and feed it with an SGC Smartuner.

For 2 meter and 440 MHz my rig is a Kenwood TM-V71A feeding an Arrow Dual Band J-Pole antenna in the attic.

Thanks for checking in. If we haven’t already talked then I hope to talk with you sometime in the future.
