Thank you for stopping by my station.

I first became interested in amateur radio while working for Nolan (Stu) Walker, W8ADQ, at his store, Walker Radio, when I was in high school in the late sixties. My father bought my first SW receiver, a Hallicrafter WR-1000, in 1966. This really sparked my interest in Ham radio.  I was also encouraged by Thomas Filicky of Canal Fulton, Ohio who taught electronics at Oakwood High School, Canton Ohio.

Base Station;

My base station consists of a yAESU ftDX1200 and Icom 7100 and IC-5100  DStar & V/UHF and the IC-2820 for DStar & 2M/440 mobile.

I have a Cushcraft Vertical for 40 and 80 M and three inverted vee antennas at various orientations. Each of the dipoles are about 35 feet high for use on 75, 40 and 20 meters. I also use the mini-beam Cushcraft MA5B with a short roof mount tower. I use the PALSTAR AT1500Tuner, and the Ameritron ALS-600 HF amp when needed.

I am also now into DStar, which is a very interesting aspect of the hobby!

Portable Station;

My portable station consistes of various dipole antennas, and the Buddiepole system. This station can be set-up and on the air (HF and VHF) in minutes.

Net Activity;

I am active on the Texas Traffic Net (TTN) and hold an appointment as a Net Control Station on Sunday evenings at 18:30 CST. Hope to see you here, 3.873 Mhz, often.

I am a proud member of the American Radio Relay League.

Personal;

In addition to my own business, Staley Management Services, I also teach business and management courses for several local universities.

I have been married to my wife (Kim) for over 40 years. We have two wonderful boys who are now grown. Unfortunately, the three of them have shown absolutely no interest in this great hobby.
