I can be found most evenings on 40 meters checking into various nets and chasing late night DX. I am also a huge fan of the digital modes and spend time on 20M and 30M in those portions of the bands. QRP digital is something that has recently piqued my interest and I try to experiment with low power when I can arrange a QSO with a friend. I am a casual contester and try to spend a few hours during the weekend honing my contesting skills and filling my log.
My main rig is a Yaesu 767GX into a Butternut HF-6V vertical or a 300 ohm fed dipole at 30ft, depending on propogation. I also use a Kenwood TS-120S as a portable rig when I am out-and-about. Wire antennae are very interesting to me and I spend a lot of time experimenting with various configurations to suit my needs.
I am also an avid Linux fan and spend many hours tinkering under the hood of my small server farm. For those not familiar with Linux for Ham radio, be pleasantly surprised and give it a try. There are many great programs written by many great amateur radio operators for just about every niche of our hobby.
Logbook of the World is fantastic and I update on a regular basis. Paper QSL cards are welcome and I will respond. eQSL is hit-or-miss and I will try to update as often as I can remember.
For Hams locaed in the Plano/North Dallas area, I meet with a group Wednesday night at 8pm CST on 146.52 FM simplex. This is a round table of local folks that want to work simplex and test out various equipment on VHF and UHF. Feel free to drop by .
I am a member of the Plano Amateur Radio Klub (PARK-K5PRK) in Plano, TX.
