 Became a Ham in 1994. Have participated in lots of Skywarn events throughout the years, and local emergency communications. First introduced to Ham Radio as a teenager about 1970 when our community set up a radio club, mostly of CB, with a few Hams also. I enjoy making antennas and learning more about science. Sponsored & Mentored FIRST® ROBOTICS teams for 12 years with my wife. Changed my callsign in 2020 from KC5GNJ to my new callsign K5BXM. Love operating MOBILE with the Yaesu FT-891 HF rig with the ATAS or the Hustler Super-Resonators on my Dodge Truck where I can "tailgate" on mountains, field days, campgrounds, and POTA (so much fun!!!). In my hamshack I am using an Alpha 76PA with a Yaesu FT-980. My son AI5BX has a degree in engineering. I taught him ham radio but now he teaches me... I love doing ham radio with him. Almost everyone in my family has a Ham Radio license. Fun times.
