Originally licensed as KN4DRV (novice) in 1955; General class in 1956. Finished high school in 1960 and then off to college and grad school.Ham radio took a 2d place to education, career, wife and family. After a very long hiatus (over 56 years), I decided that it was time to re-enter the world of amateur radio. Passed Tech element in July of 2011 and General in August of 2011. Passed Extra in March of 2012. Was able to re-claim my old call as I was the original licensee and the call had not been reassigned. Happy to be back as K4DRV!
Running a Kenwood TS590S rig with a Cobra-Lite folded dipole and a MFJ High-Q "loop" strung in my attic. Both do a great job considering the limitations of an attic antenna. Living in a town home with residential restrictions severely limits my antenna choices.
Enjoy working DX on SSB or CW. Also a little "rag chewing" from time to time.
I retired from the North Carolina Trial Court bench on December 31, 2012. I look forward to spending many hours listening and working the bands.
Thanks for dropping by. 73's and hope to work you sometimes.
