I am an amateur radio operator and a hobbyist photographer from Milledgeville, Georgia. I am married to the former Ms. Nikki Gay (KM4HML) of Eatonton and am the son of Quincy (K4QAS) and Donna Simpson of Toomsboro. I was diagnosed with cancer (MDS) in January 2016, leading to becoming a full-time cancer warrior. Prior to that, I was a training specialist, academic advisor, and lecturer at Georgia College & State University. I also was an assistant professor at Georgia Military College. My area of study was American government and public administration.

I was first licensed for amateur radio in 1996 at the age of 11. Following a lengthy hiatus, I returned to the hobby in 2014, eventually upgrading to General Class. An elmer loaned me a Kenwood TS-570S, and after far too long, I expanded beyond the realm of 2m and 70cm. I have been the Secretary-Treasurer of the Milledgeville Amateur Radio Club, am the call sign trustee for the Bobcat Amateur Radio Club, and am the Emergency Coordinator for Baldwin County ARES.
