I have been licensed as a U.S. General class for amateur radio since December 2009. (still working on extra, and learning CW) The vanity call sign, K2BEW, is based on my last name of Bewick, which is pronounced like the car Buick, or as my Dad likes to say "Bew" like "few". It's British, my grandfather was from Seaham Harbour in northern England.
The main rig is Kenwood's first hybrid the TS-520 dating to 1973 with the matching AT-200 tuner, SP-520 Speaker and MC-50 Mic. The antenna is an Off Center Fed Windom from Bruce Beckett, NU0R of Maple Leaf Studio Antennas.
When not doing radio you will find me spending time with my family at home and church serving the Lord. My wonderful XYL Jean puts up with it all and I have 5 great kids a few of which I am trying to get into radio.
