First licensed in 1977 as WB1CVW. Upgraded in the early 1990s and received KD1XS, changed call to K1XS when I made Extra in 1997. Retired in 2015 after 33 years in the fire service, held all ranks from firefighter to fire chief. I instruct in a regional and state fire academy on a part-time basis now.
