Greetings from New England. I have been in ham radio for 62 years. I was first licensed in 1960 as KN1TRS. First rig was a BC 342 and ART 13 feeding an off center fed wire. I spent many nights working cw on 80 and 40 meters. What a thrill that was to me as a 12 year old and the hobby still is more than 50 years later !
The equipment in CT is all Icom , 756 Pro iii, 7610 ,7300, 9700.. 5 computers and all networked. HF 3 element tir bander, 43 foot vertical, wire antennas for 160 - 40 meters, yagis for 6, 2, 220, 432 and 1.2ghz.
I am married to Judy, N1JY for 42 years. We have 3 children and 11 grand children. Judy is also a extra class ham.
We have houses in France and Switzerland so look for us as homecall / F and HB9. The house in Switzerland is at 4500 feet and has breathtaking views of the Swiss Alps !
The most rewarding job I had was teaching at the American School for the Deaf which is the first and oldest school for the deaf in the United States. I ended my work there as one of the Directors for the school.
Now retired I enjoy radio, sports cars, hunting and fishing along with computers, space science and race horses. I am a big Rugby fan since our Grandson Kevin played for the West Hartford Black Hearts and the New England All Star teams.
I love to hunt and do upland bird hunting on horse back in upstate NY ! The horses have been taught to ignore the shot gun noise. Just amazing. I get to enjoy two hobbies at the same time. Hunting and riding ! I have two Gordon setters that do most of the work. Wonderful dogs and super noses !
We have four dogs in CT. 2 Dachshunds (Otto and Luther) , 2 Basset Hounds (Ollie and Chloe) along with 2 Manx cats (Ellie and Liam both tailless cats from the Isle of Man) , 2 Flemish Giants (rabbits) and a bunch of Koi pond fish.
The NY operating positions change but for now they are, FT1000MP MK V, Icom IC 7000 , 3 ele tri bander at 25 meters and dipoles for 160, 80, and 40 meters. VHF/UHF rig - FT 847. Several satellite dishes for weather and space work.

I am an Official Observer (OO) in the ARRL/FCC program.
Memberships in the ARRL, RSGB, AMSAT, ARLHS 212, Mediterraneo Dx Club 818 and EPC 10612.
DXCC Honor Roll 334, 5 Band DXCC, Mixed, CW, Phone, Digital DXCC awards, plus WAS and WAZ.
I work on amplifiers for other hams. Collins 30L1 and Ameritron 811, 800, 80A or B are the amps I enjoy working on most. I have a large supply of 811A , 572B and 3-500z tubes on hand and I am always looking for Svetlana 811A, 811HD and 572Bs. If you have any let me know...
Projects for 2017 are 144 and 432 mhz Digital Modes EME stations and other weak signal work on VHF and UHF bands including satellites. Laser communication systems are also a big interest. Picture reception from the NOAA weather satellites is done daily.
I also enjoy restoring Western Union self winding wall clocks. I have five that I have restored and looking for more of these wonderful large old wall clocks. Most date from the early 1900's.
A new project is working on restoring a 1999 Jaguar XJ8. Great looking car and just needs some TLC.
I look forward to the changing nature of the hobby and to its future.
73 to all who share this wonderful hobby.
