User info
I have had an interest in electronics, including radio transmitters and receivers, from the age of about 11, and later studied the subject at Trent Polytechnic (now Nottingham Trent University).
I became interested in transceivers when I was given a non-working CB rig by a work colleague, which I managed to fix and use for a while. I decided to take an amateur radio course soon after this, and obtained a class B license after passing the exam at the end of the course.
One use for my amateur radio equipment (Yaesu FT290) was for marshalling during marathon runs with a group of friends, also with amateur licenses.
After moving house, lack of time meant that the radio gear remained in boxes for over 15 years.. :-(
A visit to the National Radio Centre at Blechley Park last year has helped to revive my interest, and I now have my rigs set up and working :-).
