I was first licenced in 1977 as G8NSZ and passed my CW Exam in 1981 gaining the callsign G4NSZ.

The major part of my working life was spent flying jets in the RAF.  I still fly and instruct on piston aircraft.

My QTH is close to the centre on Cheltenham and suffers from a high noise level so HF operations are limited.

(Oct 2020) I have recently been experimenting with an End Fed Half Wave antenna with 33 ft of wire which resonates on 20m and 10m and the noise level is acceptable so now back on with the IC-706MkII.

Cheltenham began as an Anglo-Saxon village over 1200 years ago. In 1226 it became a market town, which was the basis of its economy until the 18th century, when its medicinal waters were discovered in a field to the south of the town where Cheltenham Ladies? College now stands. These were regarded as beneficial for a whole range of illnesses and by the late 18th century the town was one of England?s leading spas.
