User info

I first got interested in radio at school when my Chemistry teacher found I was far more interested in the large metal box in the corner than his subject!! I went on to get my class B in Feb 1980, G8VBY and then my Class A, G4KVI in November. Despite being licensed for over 40 years I still find the whole thing fascinating and still find new things to play with, my latest being SSTV from the ISS.

I have my own weather station and you can view the station at Redfield Weather. I also upload to various weather services including APRS.

I run an FT991 for HF where I mainly use FT8. I Use an FT8900 and TM700 for VHF/UHF. I recently purchased a Pi-Star hotspot and having some fun playing on DMR with an MD-380 and the dual band UV380. It does also mean I can use the Fusion side of the 991.

I am the keeper for GB3UB & MB7UB. GB3UB is linked via Echolink, node no. 201135.

I am a member of the RSGB, also WACRAL  no 1659 and most recently RAOTA no 2999. I am also a member of Bath And North East Somerset Raynet and the local Bath club BADARC.

I work as a bus driver for First Mendip and spend my days driving around one of the most beautiful areas in the country. I am married to Fiona M3FED and we have  Boots the cat. I am a Christian and worship at St Nicholasin Radstock.
