 Held my licence since August 1984.

Currently living in the City of Chelmsford, the birthplace of radio.  Member of Royal Air Force Halton Radio Society  RAFHRS No. 010 Club Call: GX1RAF/G1RAF  Member of the Royal Air Force Amateur Radio Society  RAFARS No. 4921  Member of AMSAT  EQUIPMENT:  

• Yaesu FT-8900 with a German designed joint 2m and 70cms beam.
• Icom ID-5100e used as mobile rig.
• Icom 7300 with MAT-Tuner 180H
• Icom IC 705 For QRP on HF using a 49:1 Balun and Long Wire, also use a Linked Dipole when Portable/Alternative.
• Low Orbit Satellite work
• Yaesu HF/50/144/430 FT991A.
• Yaesu FT-3DR.
• AnyTone D878UV DMR Radio.  (Will be using G1RAF on 15 Sept 2020, 80th Commemorative Battle of Britain).

Antennas: Inverted V HW-80HP Off centre fed dipole for 80 60 40 metrs running 120/300 deg, and 25 metre long wire with CG-3000 Auto tuner. 4 metre Colinear and 3 element beam for 6 metres.

Spent many happy years in the RAF as an Aircraft Fitter in Electrical and Instrument trades.

Civilian Instructor with RAF Air Cadets training cadets in both military and civilian radio in theory and practice (Blue, Bronze, Silver and Gold Badges.  Silver Badge includes Foundation Licence.

Can be heard using Call G1RAF and GX1RAF on 60 metres and C4FM
