I am Chris, operating a QRP station...forever !
  - with a power of 10w or 5w depending on the level of my battery ;)

 I'm working mostly in CW ,            then ssb
My Ham radio concept : minimalist and furtive

Licensed since 1991 as FD1RQG, I was 18 years old (QTH Barraux),
  F2AY and F6DIR helped me get started with a Yeasu FT101ZD loan & ant. Levy but it quickly became a big disappointment because I was disturbing all the televisions in the neighborhood !

Then, I started a long QRP way with homebrew tranceivers ;

building a full TRX Howes 20m, SmallWonder 20m & 40m, K1BQT 20m, Sprat tips etc...

I was also the owner of HW7, QRPPlus IndexLaboratories and Youkit HB-1B.

QRP forever ,  here spreading the G-QRP CLUB spirit at Iseremat Events 2000-2007 :

        ... F5DOG, F6GNK

I enjoy to work in the field, like mini-expedition.

Above my full homebrew  portable station, early year 2000

Antennas in Portable ;

  • JPC-7 GP antenna, most of time without coil, from 15 to 10m
  • Fish Rod GP Antenna
  • EFHW Antenna (+Hendriks Tuner)
  • + solar pannel

** Since August 2023, I'm using an IC-705

This is my first fixed station after 30 years of portable operations

      Here the keyer is the 9A5N's Solid State Paddle

    ** September 2023 : @QRA a new Antenna has been erected

    Here is an MV6 antenna, made in Italy by Pier Francesco Grazioli.
      → 5 elements GP Antenna → 6 bands, WARC included ;
            5 x λ/4 : 20-17-15-12-11m
            1 x λ/2 : 6m
    A very good manufacturing quality.

    This antenna has no trap, no coil...

    I added a Common Mode Choke on feed line : 9T RG142 on FT243

        Used without ATU and ROS ranges from 1.0 to 1.4 ;

       ROS 1.3 @14.230 Mhz
       ROS 1.4 @18.120 Mhz
       ROS 1.0 @21.270 Mhz
       ROS 1.4 @24.930 Mhz
       ROS 1.0 @28.500 Mhz
       ROS 1.0 @50.800 Mhz

    The results with this antenna surprise me every day.
    A fantastic performer on DX !
