Operator: JIA Yi (Jia is my Surname, Yi is my Given Name)
QTH: Wuxi, Jiangsu, China (PM01CO)
Personal Profile:
Graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science and Technology from Xi'an Jiaotong University, one of China's Top 9 universities. Currently, I work as a freelancer at home and plan to pursue my Master's Degree abroad in the latter half of 2025.
I obtained my Amateur Radio Operation License (Class A) and my Radio Station License (Class A, interprovincial/international) on August 1, 2024. I primarily operate in DMR mode, attempting to establish contacts worldwide. Also, I'm interested in exploring advanced applications of SDR. I welcome QSOs with fellow HAMs and am very interested in exchanging QSL cards.
Personal Views on Amateur Radio:
I believe that integrating modern computer capabilities, including software and computer networks, with amateur radio represents a significant direction in contemporary amateur radio development.
From a global perspective, computers have become a fundamental capability and development platform across many industries. Following this modern trend in amateur radio development aligns with objective patterns and is vital for injecting new energy into this hobby.
Pragmatically speaking, it's undoubtedly beneficial to utilize my computer science research and application methods in amateur radio, taking an inclusive approach to both fields.
Regarding Shortwave (HF) Communications:
According to Chinese laws and regulations, Class A holders can only transmit between 30-3000MHz with a maximum power of 25W. I won't be able to upgrade my operator class until at least February 2025, so I can currently only make global contacts through digital voice modes like DMR via the internet. To fellow operators hoping to meet on HF frequencies - please give me some time, I'm working on it!
Regarding Reduced FM Operations:
Due to numerous non-standard and illegal operations by local and nearby FM users, to avoid unnecessary disputes and considering personal and family safety, I plan to minimize my use of FM repeaters and direct frequencies effective immediately. Satellite communications require appropriate antennas and dedication; being somewhat lazy, I've temporarily shelved plans for satellite FM operations.
DMR mode has relatively better user verification and more standardized regular communications, which is why I prefer operating on DMR.
I kindly request stations who have contacted me to confirm our QSO records - this is very important to me, and I greatly appreciate it!
A complete QSO should include final QSL confirmation, whether through physical QSL cards, electronic methods like eQSL or LoTW, or QRZ.com confirmations.
Among electronic QSL confirmations, I prefer LoTW for its highest authority and widest recognition. I also always confirm QSOs with yellow stars in my QRZ.com logbook. I use other platforms including eQSL.cc, HRDLOG, Clublog, QRZCQ, HAMLOG, HamQTH, and HamCQ.
For physical QSL cards, please use DIRECT MAIL if possible rather than the bureau. Regular mail is fine, and any registered mail, return postage, or IRCs are NOT needed.
I'm currently very enthusiastic about exchanging physical QSL cards. Fellow operators with the same interest are welcome to send cards directly. I will respond as quickly as possible upon receipt. Please feel free to contact me through the methods below with any questions.
