www.HamRadioResources.com is my website where you will find links to my BLOG and my www.Twitter.com/AB9NN feed. I have been active in both Brown County and Outagamie County A.R.E.S. / R.A.C.E.S. and routinely run Skywarn severe weather nets for our crazy NE WI USA weather that includes plenty of tornado reports. I have been an Auditor / Financial Analyst most of my working career although I have been a licensed Stock Broker among other things at times.
Beside my life in ham radio (seriously - there ARE other lives... chuckle) I enjoy regional travel, photography, APRS (AB9NN-9) , short-wave listening, weather, boating and fishing. Back in the day I was the Captain of my high school ski racing team in Michigan's UP (Iron River, MI) and competatively raced sail boats on Lake Michigan.
My wife, Jane (KD8KRS) is a General class hamr radio operator. I got started with a mobile and a HT and so I learned mobile HF since I got my Extra Class license very quickly. 20 meters is my favorite band although I am experimenting with 75 meters mostly for A.R.E.S. purposes. I will likely try other bands as well. I run hamsticks on my car (work very well) and my wife runs an ATAS-120 (small screwdriver antenna) that also works well (40 - 2 meters).
For a base station we run a Gap Challenger DX antenna - ground mounted center fed vertical (about 32 foot flagpole with appendages). We run three Yaesu FT 857-D radios at the current time. We hope to upgrade the base station some day as the checkbook permits.
Thanks for reading my bio - have a look through my blog archives for some great material!
